Born into a family of musicians, Paul began playing guitar at age seven so that he could play along with Beatles’ records. He has been a professional musician since the age of 15, performing most significantly with his siblings in an originals band called Sugarmoth. The band went on to receive national airplay on Triple J and secured a four year publishing deal with Universal Records. Apart from playing guitar and electric bass, Paul is also a skilled vocalist and holds a degree in music education. When not being a rock god, Paul inspires emerging musicians by working as a high school music teacher. Although Paul particularly enjoys sixties and seventies music, he keeps in touch with the current music scene and is constantly on the lookout for inspiration for his own songwriting. Paul was a top-ten finalist in the rock/metal/indie category of the 2004 Australian Songwriters Association Australian National Songwriting Contest. He also co-wrote songs with Golden Guitar winner Melinda Schneider on her debut album. Paul has vivid memories of seeing Jon English in the original Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar and has since then also performed the role of Judas. In Jon English’s 2008 workshop production of Paris, Paul played the lauded role of Hector.
